Invitations and reminders

BreastScreen NSW provides free screening mammograms to all women aged over 40 years. The Program especially encourages women aged 50 to 69 years to screen.

Invitations to make an appointment with BreastScreen NSW are sent to women after they turn 50 years of age. BreastScreen has been given permission to use the Electoral Roll to access names and addresses of women to invite to the service.

Women aged between 50 and 69 years who have previously screened with BreastScreen NSW will automatically be sent a reminder letter when they are next due. It is important to have regular mammograms every two years as changes in the breasts, such as cancer, develop over time and having one mammogram is not enough. Also the risk of developing breast cancer increases with age.

Women aged 40 to 49 years or over 70 years will not be sent reminders. These women are still eligible for free screening mammograms.
