Visit to BreastScreen NSW

With the invitation letter you may receive information about how to get to the BreastScreen NSW screening site. Please be on time for your appointment and if you have come by car, please make sure you leave enough time to find parking near the screening site.

It is best to wear a skirt or slacks and a top, rather than a dress, as you will need to undress from the waist up for the breast screen. Also, please do not use talcum powder on the day as it can show up on the breast screen. If you want your doctor to receive a copy of your results, please bring his or her name and address. If possible, please also bring any previous breast x-rays with you.

When you enter the screening site a member of staff will greet you, check your personal details and you may be asked to complete some forms.

When it is your turn for a breast screen you will be shown to a changing room where you will be asked to remove your clothes above the waist.

For any further questions about breast cancer and the screening process, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions section.
